Earl J Crochet, PE

Earl has over 32 years’ experience in pipelines and terminals in various roles in Engineering, Operations, Business Development, EH&S, and Management. He is currently the Director of Business Development Oil & Gas for Perceptive Sensors Technologies and Owner of Crochet Midstream Consulting. Until November 2020, he was the Director of Engineering for Asset Regulatory Support for Kinder Morgan Terminals.  

Earl has been active in the API since 1994: Subcommittee of Aboveground Storage Tanks (past Chairman); recent co-chair of API 2350 Tank Overfill Prevention Committee; and serves and has served on several other API committees. He also served on the Board of Directors of the ILTA from 2009 to 2015, including a term as Chairman.

Earl has spoken at Conferences in North America and Europe on topics ranging from technical issues about tanks and pipelines to topical issues such as the Shale Oil revolution, Operational Excellence, the Great Crew Change and the Lack of Common Sense. He also has taught Pipelines 101 and Terminals 101 at the EPA OSC academy.

Earl has been a Certified API 653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector since 1993. Earl has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in 3 States. His proudest achievement is being married to his wife Piper for over 37 years. They have 2 children and 6 grandkids ranging in ages from 15 to 3 years old.
